Which curriculum does Aspen Beauty Academy of Laurel follow?

Our cosmetology program is based on the Milady curriculum and covers hair care, hair design, nail care, skin care, make‑up application, business and personal skills as well as the Maryland cosmetology regulations.  
 

When can I start?

January 3, February 1, March 6, April 3, May 8, June 5, July 10, August 7, September 4, October 2, November 6, and December 4. 
 

How many hours do I need to complete the program?

The state of Maryland requires 1500 hours of cosmetology training before you can apply to take the State Board of Cosmetologists licensing examination.
 

I have a day job, do you offer evening classes?

Yes. Evening classes are held Tuesday-Friday 5:30PM to 8:30PM and Saturday 8:30AM to 5:00PM. This schedule enables you to complete the training in 75 weeks.
 

What are the career opportunities other than working in a salon?

There is a broad variety of professional choices available for experienced cosmetologists. Other than working in a salon, these include Fashion Show Stylist, Platform Artist and Educator, and Beauty Magazine Writer or Editor.
 

Once I graduate, will I immediately obtain my license?

No.  When you graduate, you will have to pass the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists examination in order to obtain your work license.

Do you offer job placement assistance?

We do not guarantee employment upon graduation but will assist you in your job search by helping you prepare your resume, business cards, salon design and portfolio, and refine your interview skills; by inviting salon owners to the school to present their salon and discuss what to expect in their salon work environment; and by posting job advertisements received by salons looking for our graduates on our career opportunities board.
