Aspen Beauty Academy of Laurel offers a comprehensive education in basic cosmetology that includes hair care, hair design, nail care, skin care, and make‑up application. The program provides 1500 clock hours of required instruction in English to prepare students for the State Board of Cosmetologists examination.
Our cosmetology program is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission
and the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists.
Training
Beginning students spend class time listening to lectures, watching demonstrations, reading, and applying theories to practical mannequin work. Upon reaching 350 hours, completing scheduled assignments and passing all tests, students start gaining practical experience by working with clients in the non-request full service clinic, advancing from basic hair setting and cutting to chemical processing such as permanent waving, hair coloring and straightening. As students approach graduation, they start learning the business of cosmetology, preparing them to be successful financially and creatively.
Graduation Requirements
- Completion of 1500 clock hours.
- Successful completion of all units of study and written assignments.
- Successful completion of all practical evaluations.
- A cumulative attendance rate of at least 80%.
- Satisfactory arrangements for payment of all financial obligations to the academy.
